"For Indonesia, an inclusive and transparent Indo-Pacific cooperation that promotes concrete cooperation will be in perfect alignment with Indonesia's vision as a global maritime fulcrum," Foreign Minister Marsudi stated here on Wednesday.
Marsudi expressed Indonesia's view of a renewed cooperation framework among countries in the Indo-Pacific region being crucial to ensuring peace, stability, and mutual prosperity.
"It is crucial because we face emerging security and economic challenges in the Indo-Pacific region, and at the same time, we understand the far-reaching geo-political and geo-strategic changes taking place in the Indo-Pacific region," she remarked.
She further affirmed that Indonesia, as an archipelagic nation that strategically straddles the Indian and Pacific oceans in the Indo-Pacific region, envisions a peaceful and prosperous region based on mutual trust, respect, and spirit of cooperation.
"Hence, we hope the dialog would be able to facilitate dynamic interactive deliberation toward deeper and more inclusive cooperation among stakeholders in the Indo-Pacific region. We also hope it would provide opportunities for concrete collaboration among economies in the region," Marsudi noted.
Delegates from 18 members of the East Asia Summit attended the High-Level Dialogue on Indo-Pacific Cooperation initiated by Indonesia.
The dialog, themed "Towards a Peaceful, Prosperous, and Inclusive Region," was opened by Indonesia's Vice President Jusuf Kalla.
