The number does not indicate a leak, rather, it refers to a potential leak.Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission has clarified presidential candidate number 02 Prabowo Subianto's statement regarding the state budget leak.
Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission Saut Situmorang said in Jakarta, Monday, that the Rp2,000 trillion mentioned by the anti-graft body referred to a potential leak in the state budget, rather than indicating an actual leak.
"Based on some discussions, we can arrive at Rp4,000 trillion. The deficiency is around Rp2,000 trillion and the number does not indicate a leak, but rather, refers to a potential one," he said.
Previously, during a rally held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta on Sunday, April 7, Subianto had lashed out at the government, stating that there had been a leak in the state budget, amounting to Rp2,000 trillion.
"Right now, it is at Rp2,400 trillion and it has the potential to reach Rp4,000 trillion," noted Situmorang.
He believed that it would be beneficial for the public if the state budget reaches Rp4,000 trillion as it would contribute to infrastructure development, and ultimately, the increase of village funds.
Situmorang said that one of the ways to reach such a potential is through provincial and municipal revenue. For example, based on former governor of DKI Jakarta Djarot Saiful Hidayat's report, the province had been able to reach a total revenue of Rp7 trillion after being supervised by the anti-graft body.
