Spokesman of the anti-graft body Febri Diansyah confirmed that Novanto will face questioning as a witness in the case against Golkar Party lawmaker, identified by his initials as MN.
Apart from Novanto, the commission has also issued summons to two other witnesses in the case against MN: Irman, ex-director general of demography and civil registration at the Home Ministry, and Sugiharto, ex-director of the ministry's demographic information administration.
The trio witnesses have been proven guilty of involvement in the e-ID graft case and are currently serving prison term at the Sukamiskin correctional facility in Bandung, West Java..
The anti-graft body took MN into detention on April 1, 2019, after being assigned a suspect status on July 19, 2017.
MN was named a suspect in two cases in connection with the e-ID corruption case.
In the first case, MN was charged with attempts intended to avert, hinder, or thwart the examination of two suspects at a court session in the Central Jakarta District Court.
Accusations have been leveled against MN for deliberately avoiding, blocking, or halting investigation into an alleged graft case that involved another suspect, identified by her initials as MSH, for supposedly issuing fake testimonies during the trial of the e-ID graft case in the anti-corruption court.
In the second case, MN has been assigned suspect status in an alleged graft case pertaining to the procurement of e-ID cards.
