"During the cooling-off period, the teams are not allowed to post anything related to campaigns. If they hold official accounts, they will not surely campaign for any candidates during the cooling-off period."
Cianjur (ANTARA) - West Java's Cianjur chapter of the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) has requested those owing social media accounts to steer clear of campaigning for presidential and legislative candidates during the election silence period.

Commissioner of the Bawaslu Chapter Hadi Dzikri Nur confirmed on Friday of having urged legislative candidates and their campaign teams to avoid posting campaign-related content during the cooling-off period.

"During the cooling-off period, the teams are banned from posting information linked to campaigns. If they are official account holders, they will definitely not be campaigning for any candidates during the cooling-off period," he emphasized.

Nur noted that in case his side found anyone not following the rules set during the cooling-off period, it would amount to a violation of the general elections, and the respective legislative candidates' names can be struck off the list.

He pointed to the current issue of personal or unclear accounts on social media platforms that have continued their campaigning for legislative and presidential candidates.

"These accounts are not included and regulated, thereby making it complicated to take action. We will issue a call to social media users, particularly those residing in Cianjur, to avoid publishing campaign-related content," he emphasized.

Speaking in connection with the content of the call, Nur said he will firstly hold a meeting to appeal to social media users to avoid committing violations.
