Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendy has observed the implementation of the junior high school (SMPN) national examinations (UN) at SMPN of 11 and 19 in Jakarta. "The UN has been conducted on the specified standards. The distribution of the paper test and the supervision system requires this standard," Effendy said in Jakarta on Monday.

The national examinations at SMPN of 11 and 29 were conducted smoothly, he noted.

As many as 4,279,008 students consisting of Junior High School level and Islamic Junior High School (Madrasah Tsanawiyah) level will take the national examinations on April 22 and 25.

However, some provinces such as Papua, West Papua, and East Nusa Tenggara will conduct the UN on April 23. There are four subjects for junior high school (SMPN) national examinations. The subjects are Mathematics, Bahasa Indonesia, English, and Sciences.

The UN will be conducted by 39,326 junior high school and 17,719 Islamic junior high school. Nearly 78 percent of the schools take the computer-based national examination (UNBK).

A number of provinces have conducted the UNBK for junior high schools level, namely DKI Jakarta, Gorontalo, South Kalimantan, East Java, Aceh, Yogyakarta, and Bangka Belitung.

Meanwhile, a number of provinces have carried out the UNBK for Islamic junior high schools level, among others, are DKI Jakarta, Gorontalo, South Kalimantan, East Java, and Aceh, in addition to Yogyakarta, Bangka Belitung, North Kalimantan, and West Java. The other provinces are North Sulawesi, Lampung, Bali, Bengkulu, Central Sulawesi, and Banten, in addition to Central Kalimantan, West Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Riau, West Papua, and North Sumatra.
