The security situation in commemoration of May Day in Indonesia can be said to be very conducive
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the National Police Information Bureau Brigadier General Dedi Prasetyo confirmed that the national security situation in the event of Labor Day celebrations across Indonesia remained, by and large, conducive.

"The security situation in Indonesia while commemorating May Day can be termed as highly conducive," Brigadier General Dedi remarked when contacted here, Wednesday.

Dedi admitted that workers across different regions echoed their aspirations in an orderly and peaceful manner.

Labor Day was celebrated through various social activities and competitions in addition to offering a platform for workers to be vocal about their aspirations.

"Our monitoring of eight locations across Jakarta indicated a smooth, safe, and orderly implementation. Karawang in West Java was the hub of all activities, and the situation there remained favorable. In Banten, Central Java, Surabaya (East Java), Lampung, North Sumatra, South Sumatra, South Sulawesi, and several other regions, activities to mark May Day were organized conducively," he stated.

A total of 80 thousand joint personnel of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), Indonesian National Police, and municipal police units were stationed to ensure that the security situation remained under control while commemorating Labor Day nationwide on May 1, 2019.

Of this figure, 30 thousand were deployed for securing Jakarta during the May Day celebrations.

The Indonesian National Police also extended gratitude to all workers' elements for sound collaboration with the authorities to maintain a conducive situation during Labor Day.
