"Power consumption usually falls by up to 20 percent post the fasting month festivities 'Lebaran'. In 2018, it dropped by up to 23 percent," PLN manager for customer service unit for Surakarta city said on Saturday.
As of Wednesday (May 8), PLN held power reserves of 1,401 megawatts. During the day, the power reserves increased to 1,999 megawatts.
Power consumption usually increases at night when Muslims across the country perform Tarawih night prayers and eat their predawn meal.
He said PLN is committed to providing the best services to subscribers in and around Solo during the fasting month of Ramadhan.
"This Ramadhan, we have set up Ramadhan and Eid-al-Fitr standby teams divided into 19 command posts. The teams will employ 70 personnel and work round the clock," he said.
Meanwhile, six teams comprising 60 personnel will be tasked with attending networks, he said.
"The fleet will also have access to PDKB cars, technological service cars, cranes and motor cycles to provide better and quicker services," he said.
