"In addition to rising 46.84 percent in comparison with last year, coal also dominated Aceh's exports by contributing 53.28 percent," Head of the Aceh Central Statistics Agency Wahyudin remarked in Banda Aceh on Wednesday.
Apart from coal, Aceh's six non-oil and gas export commodities -- coffee, tea, and spices -- contributed 30.41 percent of the total exports valued at $22.86 million.
Inorganic chemical commodities contributed a notable 5.79 percent, with an export value of $4.35 million, followed by fruit exports, at some 4.16 percent amounting to $3.12 million; and various chemical products, 2.69 percent, worth $2.02 million.
President Director of PT Mifa Bersaudara Slamet Haryadi admitted that coal exports from Aceh's west coast region until May 2019 were yet the highest and witnessed a positive trend.
"This is an indication of progress in the coal sales by PT Mifa Bersaudara and PT Bara Energi Lestari," Haryadi stated.
It has obtained data on the economic growth figures issued by the Aceh Province BPS Number 21/05 / Th.XXII on Monday, May 6, 2019, that indicated coal exports from Indonesia's westernmost province are yet at the highest position.
Haryadi opined that the key inference to be drawn from the Aceh BPS information is that coal exports yet hold promise and have always topped Aceh's export contribution in recent years.
"The rise in Aceh's coal exports is yet a crucial point in supporting the economy," he added.
