Jakarta (ANTARA) - The national airline Garuda Indonesia yet again notched top ranking for "On Time Performance" (OTP) among airlines globally.

Garuda Indonesia successfully recorded best "OTP," with 96.3 percent, surpassing last month's performance of 95.5 percent, in the global flight category, of its over 10,000 flights landing in May 2019 as per the OAG Flightview version.

"It will be a huge challenge for the company, especially as it strives maintain this successful achievement during the peak season of Eid al-Fitr. We are currently making meticulous preparations by optimizing 'On-Time Performance' through operational service lines and intensive coordination with airport stakeholders to maintain our commitment in offering five-star international standard services," Operations Director of Garuda Indonesia Capt. Bambang Adisurya Angkasa noted in his official statement here on Saturday.

Angkasa elaborated that Garuda Indonesia's success in retaining its OTP ranking was the outcome of strong collaboration throughout the Garuda Indonesia operational lines in offering the best possible services to customers.

"We continue to maintain the performance of the airline's timeliness through checking all flight operations, particularly with regard to implementing security and safety as our commitment to promoting the aspects of 'Operational Safety.' Hence, we are optimistic that all activities during this 'peak season' would run safely, on time, and comfortably," he emphasized.

Angkasa further revealed that his side is ensuring that all "crew" -- "Air Crew & Ground staff" -- stay connected and "Update".

Moreover, it continues to step up coordination with stakeholders, including ground handling staff, airport authority, and AirNav.

"We also closely monitor flight schedules, and the potential for changes," Angkasa reiterated.

"We are also grateful to passengers for actively complying with all 'check-in' procedures, arriving early at the airport, carrying cabin baggage in line with the rules, and always including mobile numbers on the reservation to ensure timely check-in," he stated.

The company has, since December 2018, retained the title as the global airline with the best OTP. Thus, Garuda Indonesia has emerged as the only airline in the world to have managed to retain the title for six months in a row.

This achievement will undoubtedly offer the necessary impetus to companies to maintain and improve the quality of airline operational performance, particularly with regard to airline flight timeliness.
