"The UAE delegation's visit is an important part of cooperation in the energy sector and other strategic sectors. We are optimistic that the relations would run well, so they will have a positive impact on the two countries' investment potentials," Chief of the Communication and Cooperation Bureau of the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Agung Pribadi noted in a written statement released on Friday.
"Mr. Minister stated that this cooperation is aimed not only at increasing investment and bilateral trade but also at enhancing people-to-people contact," he pointed out.
The cooperation with UAE holds significance as Indonesia is active into infrastructure development and is planning to auction several infrastructure project concessions to foreign parties to boost their competitiveness, he revealed.
During the meeting with the UAE delegation, Jonan also offered investment opportunities in the oil and gas sector, including gas stations.
He pointed to Indonesia's requirement of 500 more gas stations that will be built in various regions in the country.
In the meantime, Minister Mazrouei expressed gratitude to the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, as host of the meeting, for its reception and hospitality.
He further highlighted his country's keenness to invest in Indonesia.
As the world's largest Muslim country and a member of the Group of Twenty (G20), Indonesia is a work partner that offers strategic economic opportunities, he remarked, adding he will support the development of infrastructure in Indonesia.
UAE is especially interested in investing in the energy, tourism, and infrastructure sectors.
The meeting also highlighted investment opportunities that the two nations had discussed earlier, including a plan to build a floating solar photovoltaic power plant in Cirata, West Java.
