Jakarta (ANTARA) - The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) delegation paid a courtesy call to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Friday to forge cooperation in dealing with corruption cases. KPK Commissioners Agus Rahardjo, Alexander Marwata, and Laode M. Syarief greeted FBI Vice Director David Bowdich and his eight-member delegation at the KPK Red and White Building in Jakarta.

"We continue to forge cooperation between KPK and FBI because the two institutions have similar visions to combat corruption worldwide and cooperate in carrying out relevant programs to overcome corruption," KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said in a written statement released Friday.

The courtesy call was part of the cooperation between KPK and FBI that has been in existence since 2008. The cooperation includes helping the KPK in handling the e-ID card graft case in Indonesia.

The KPK praised FBI for their direct involvement in handling the case, Febri said.

"The cooperation in handling the case not only helped settle the case but also served as a means of learning for KPK to handle transboundary cases which are more complicated and challenging," he said.

In addition to handling corruption cases, FBI has also assisted KPK in improving its capacity-building through various training courses and workshops, he said.

At the end of the meeting, the two institutions presented awards to each other and exchanged souvenirs as a token of cooperation.
