The two-day meeting which opened on Friday (July 19, 2019) discussed and monitored the development of transportation, infrastructure and information technology sectors aimed at supporting connectivity among the three countries, Chief of the Public Communication and Information Bureau of the Transportation Ministry Hengki Angkasawan said in a written statement released on Saturday.
The project is incorporated to the IMT-GT Implementation Blueprint 2017-2021.
During the meeting, the three countries discussed the need to renew transportation infrastructure projects in the Priority Connectivity Projects (PCPs) of each country, both the projects which have been completed and are being completed
The projects include the development of the first phase of Kuala Tanjung port and the second phase of the completion of the second phase of the development of Belawan port.
The second issue discussed at the meeting was related to the plan to open Dumai-Malacca route for roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) vessels which are scheduled to operate at the end of 2020, he said,
To that end, Indonesia and Malaysia have agreed to set up a sub-committee on April 4, 2019. The sub-committee will convene the first-ever meeting in Indonesia in September 2019.
