Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government has decided to inject Rp6.5 trillion in funds into state electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) to strengthen its capital structure and boost capacity.

State capital participation in PLN was stipulated in Government Regulation No. 51 of 2019 signed by President Joko Widodo on July 19, 2019, according to the setneg go.id website on Thursday.

According to article 2, paragraph (2) of the government regulation, the funds to be injected into PLN were sourced from the 2019 state budget.

The government regulation took effect as of the date of promulgation after Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna H. Laoly signed it on July 23, 2019.

PLN changed its status from public corporation (Perum) to state liability company (Persero) in accordance with Government Regulation No. 23 of 1994.
