"The president spoke these words at a public forum recently, saying that he has no burden," Commissioner of Komnas HAM Choirul Anam remarked at the launch of the 2018 Annual Report here on Wednesday.
"When he said he has no burden, we recalled our meeting in June 2018 between Komnas HAM and the president," he stated.
Past cases of human rights abuse have become an issue that could yet be tackled by the Jokowi-Jusuf Kalla administration. He noted that the commission will continue to encourage the government to solve the case during Jokowi's second term.
"We want the president to solve cases of gross human rights abuse during his second term, so that the words of 'having no burden' could be meaningful," Anam stated.
Furthermore, Anam is upbeat about the government referring to the commission's annual report while formulating its working program on human rights.
The president can also use the information on the human rights condition in the previous years in selecting ministers in his new cabinet.
