Kendari, S SUlawesi (ANTARA) - Southeast Sulawesi’s Police held a disciplinary hearing for five of its personnel on Thursday for alleged breaching of operating procedures while policing a student rally that resulted in the deaths of two of its participants.

Head of the Profession and Internal Security Division (Propam) of the Southeast Sulawesi Police Adjunct Sen. Comm. Ageng Adi Koerniawan stated that another personnel will face disciplinary hearing separately by his supervisor.

"Five personnel will face the hearing today, while another personnel is scheduled (for the hearing) tomorrow by his supervisor," Koerniawan noted.

Five witnesses from the Southeast Sulawesi police will be present at the closed-door disciplinary hearing. There are no external witnesses in the case, as the public and students refused to give their statements.

The six personnel, identified as DM, MI, MA, H, E, and DK, will face disciplinary sanction, varying from lowering their rank to being awarded a jail term and being given discharge from position.
