Head of the Profession and Internal Security Division (Propam) of the Southeast Sulawesi Police Adjunct Sen. Comm. Ageng Adi Koerniawan stated that another personnel will face disciplinary hearing separately by his supervisor.
"Five personnel will face the hearing today, while another personnel is scheduled (for the hearing) tomorrow by his supervisor," Koerniawan noted.
Five witnesses from the Southeast Sulawesi police will be present at the closed-door disciplinary hearing. There are no external witnesses in the case, as the public and students refused to give their statements.
The six personnel, identified as DM, MI, MA, H, E, and DK, will face disciplinary sanction, varying from lowering their rank to being awarded a jail term and being given discharge from position.
Two students of Southeast Sulawesi's Haluoleo University died after the protest against revisions of the Law on the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) took a violent turn. They were identified as Rendy, 21, who died from a gunshot wound to the chest, and Muh Yusuf Kardawi, 19, who died in hospital from a head injury.
National Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian has ordered an internal investigation into the incident and sent two teams of investigators to Kendari.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had earlier issued instructions to Indonesian Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian to conduct a probe into the alleged repressive acts by some policemen against the students staging demonstrations in some cities.
