The UMP which was set at Rp3,940,000 (around US$280) in 2019 is likely to increase by Rp335,776 (US$23.93)
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta government has announced its 2020 provincial minimum wage (UMP) of Rp4,276,349.86 (around US$304), an increase of 8.51 percent from the 2019 UMP, Governor of Jakarta, Anies Baswedan announced at the City Hall, Friday. "The UMP which was set at Rp3,940,000 (around US$280) in 2019 is likely to increase by Rp335,776 (US$23.93)," Baswedan said.

The nominal increase was in line with the central government's law for which on October 15, 2019, then Manpower Minister Hanif Dhakiri issued a circular to governors of all provinces on inflation and gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 2019, he stressed.

As per Point No. 9, Indonesia's inflation until September, 2019, was 3.39 percent, while the GDP was 5.12 percent. And these numbers were the basis for the UMP's nominal increase.

According to the Government Regulation Number 78 of 2015 Article 44 Paragraph 1 and 2 concerning the remuneration, the UMP's increase took into account the formula of national inflation and GDP growth. (INE)
