Jakarta (ANTARA) - Former communication and informatics minister Rudiantara was appointed as president director of state-run electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).

"He is expected to be installed soon. Several changes will be brought about in BUMNs (state enterprises)," Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung stated here on Monday.

Rudiantara was the communication and informatics minister for the 2014-2019 period. He served as vice president director of PLN for the 2008-2009 period.

"The TPA (final assessment team) has done its task. The ball now lies in the hand of the state enterprises minister," Anung stated.

Anung noted that President Joko Widodo had focused on restructurization of state enterprises as part of the efforts to boost the country's economy.

"Several state enterprises, including Pertamina (state oil and gas firm), are in need of restructurization. Other firms, including PLN, Inalum, Mandiri Bank, BTN, and other banks, will follow," he stated.

Rudiantara will replace the company's acting director Sripeni Inten Cahyani.

State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir recently announced he was currently evaluating five SOEs: PLN, Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN), Bank Mandiri, Inalum, and Pertamina.

Erick told journalists on Friday that he had installed Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, or Ahok, as chief commissioner of state oil and gas company Pertamina.

The minister also appointed former anti-graft commissioner Chandra Hamzah as BTN chief commissioner, while Pahala N. Mansury will serve as BTN president director.

The minister also appointed Orias Petrus Moedak as president director of PT Inalum (Persero).

"The CEO or chief commissioner of state enterprises will be recruited after passing the evaluation of the TPA," he stated.

The team is led by President Joko Widodo with members: Pramono Anung, as secretary, along with Erick Thohir and other related ministers.
