The three students -- Muhammad Rafi Permadi, Taj Attariq Topobroto, and Fayara Aretha Kunaefi -- are pupils of Binus Simprug and Global Jaya, both esteemed international schools in the capital city.
In a statement received in Jakarta, Thursday, Permadi remarked that the championship was held back in November in which thousands of students from 85 countries had participated.
"This victory is expected to inspire other Indonesian students to deliver achievements in the global arena in their respective fields and bring Indonesia's name out there," he affirmed.
The World Scholar’s Cup is an international academic competition covering the four main categories of team debate, collaborative writing, the scholar's bowl, and the scholar's challenge that then relate to six larger themes of science, literature, history, social studies, art and music, and special area.
The three Indonesian junior high school students collected various trophies in group and individual competitions through a blend of their overall competencies.
Together, they emerged second in the overall team champion category and first in the collaborative writing category and brought home several trophies for victories in the Scholar's Bowl and Scholar's Challenge, as well as gold medals for the team debate.
Apart from trophies, Permadi stated that such a privilege to participate in the international championship added to his list of skills, knowledge, and understanding on global issues, as well as the opportunity to establish and maintain relations with students from across the globe.
