Oil refineries could develop the petrochemical industry in the country
Jakarta (ANTARA) - If the development of oil refineries in Indonesia could be completed soon it could reduce the value of imported fuel and petrochemical products, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) believed. "Until this moment of the five (5) that we want to work on, none of them are working. But I am waiting for this to be completed," President Widodo said while opening the National Development Planning Conference (Musrenbangnas) in Jakarta Monday.

Oil refineries could develop the petrochemical industry in the country, he said.

As of now, the import of petrochemical products is Rp323 trillion while oil imports have touched 700 thousand to 800 thousand barrels per day.

The construction of refineries is incomplete because some wish to continue importing petrochemical products and fuel, the President suspected.

He also ordered the National Police, the Attorney General's Office and the Corruption Eradication Commission to guard law enforcement in the development of the oil and gas and petrochemical industries in Indonesia.

The President asked the regional governments to support investors in the development of the petrochemical industry or oil refineries with the ease of licensing. (INE)
