Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-run fertilizer company PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) had prepared 1.47 million tons of subsidized fertilizer for distribution until December 16. It comprised 696,393 tons of urea, 405,265 tons of NPK, 178,112 tons SP-36, 122,448 tons of ZA and 68,916 tons of organic fertilizer.

As of December 15, the holding company in the fertilizer industry had distributed 8.13 million tons of subsidized fertilizer, or 92 percent of the total allocation in 2019 at 8.8 million tons.

It comprised 3.56 million tons of Urea, 2.28 million tons of NPK, 738 thousand tons of SP-36, 909 thousand tons of ZA and 693 thousand tons of organic fertilizer.

"To anticipate the high demand, we also prepared 225,345 tons of non-subsidized fertilizer for distribution to retailers. Hence fertilizer availability could be maintained until the planting season is coming," President Director of PT Pupuk Indonesia Aas Asikin Idat said in a statement here Thursday.

Idat and some members of Commission IV and VI of the House of Representatives made a working visit to Makassar, South Sulawesi.

Pupuk Indonesia Grup has also prepared the national stock of subsidized fertilizer three times higher than the required stock, to meet demands in the next two months.

Idat has called on distributors of subsidized fertilizer to assure that the commodity is distributed to targeted farmers.

"Distributors and official retailers play an important role in the success of subsidized fertilizer distribution. Pupuk Indonesia has regularly monitored the distribution to assure that the subsidized fertilizer received by registered farmers," he said.

For South Sulawesi, the company has prepared 102,613 tons of subsidized fertilizer and 2,061 tons of non-subsidized fertilizer to anticipate the high demand, he continued.
