"A team from KPK's legal bureau will accompany him," KPK spokesman Ali Fikri stated on Monday.
The Jakarta Police summoned Baswedan to give his testimony as witness on Monday at 10 a.m. local time.
Head of the Indonesian Police's Crime Investigation Department (Bareskrim) Com. Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo announced on December 27, 2019, that two active police officers, identified by their initials as RM and RB, were named suspects in the attack against Baswedan, that took place on April 11, 2017.
RM and RB were arrested on Dec 26, 2019, by the police team in Cimanggis, Depok, and thereafter taken to the Metro Police for interrogation.
The police launched investigations since April 2017, involving seven crime scene acts, and questioned 73 witnesses, as well as formed several teams.
Baswedan's Advocacy Team, in a written statement, stated that the police should be able to unearth the motive of the perpetrators, who had either surrendered or been arrested. The Police must also check further whether they attempted to cover up traces of the mastermind behind the attack.
Baswedan’s lawyers also urged the police to be prompt in unravelling the likely involvement of a general and other intellectual actors in the acid attack that damaged the senior KPK investigator’s eyes.
A Fact Finding Team (TPF) on the Baswedan case in July last year recommended the National Police chief to locate the whereabouts of three people likely linked to the case by setting up a technical team possessing specific abilities.
The TPF only assumed there were six high-profile cases handled by Baswedan, allegedly related to the attack: the e-ID project corruption case, the case of former Constitutional Court Chief Aqil Mochtar, the case of the former secretary general of the Supreme Court, the case of former Buol district head Amran Batalipu, the case of athlete's hostel, and the case of swallow's nests handling in Bengkulu.
