I am feeling grateful. This is such an honor for artists of my generation.Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian senior actress Widyawati won the award of Best Supporting Actress at the 59th Asia Pacific Film Festival (APFF) for which the conferment ceremony was held in Macau on Wednesday, January 8.
The 1950-born Widyawati won the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in the movie titled "Ambu," or mother, which sheds light on the story of Indonesian Baduy family conflicts.
"I am feeling grateful. This is such an honor for artists of my generation," Widyawati noted in a statement received in Jakarta, Wednesday.
The Indonesian Film Companies Association (PPFI) delegated two Indonesian films for the film festival: "Ambu" directed by Farid Dermawan and "Memories of My Body" by Garin Nugroho.
During this festival, organized by the Federation of Motion Picture Producers in Asia Pacific (FPA), "Memories of My Body" received the award for the Best Original Story.
With this achievement, Widyawati broke the record of the oldest Indonesian artist to have received an international award.
In her 70s, Widyawati continues to make her presence felt in the film industry, having played roles in several movies recently. Her exposure to films began when she played Yuli in a 1971 film "Pengantin Remaja", or "The Teenage Bride", which co-starred her late husband, Sophan Sophiaan.
