"Up until now, a total of 19 people have been detained along with sharp weapons," Chief of the Karawang District Police Adjunct Senior Commissioner Rachman Arifin stated here on Tuesday.
Police investigation is underway to probe the cause of the clash during which members of the conflicting mass organizations pelted stones at one another, he remarked.
"No fatalities and material damage were reported in the clash on Monday (Jan 20). We are yet investigating (the exact cause of the clash)," he stated.
According to information received by an Antara correspondent based in Karawang District, the clash took place near a railway crossing under the Cikampek flyover in Cikampek Sub-district.
During the clash, members of the conflicting mass organizations wore NKRI (Unitary Republic of Indonesia) attire and youth organization Pemuda Pancasila uniforms respectively.
Local residents and motorists found themselves in dire straits in the clash between the two mass organizations that led to unrest since members of the conflicting mass organizations brandished sharp weapons and pelted stones at one another.
