"We are optimistic that this aid would help the displaced people to meet their needs," the vice president remarked while handing over logistical assistance symbolically to two flood victims in Dodiklatpur Ciuyah Village.
The relief aid comprised food, tents, mattresses, and kitchen equipment.
The vice president was accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of Environmental Affairs and Forestry Siti Nurbaya Bakar, and Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Angela Tanoesoedibjo.
He was greeted by hundreds of refugees from Cigobang Village, Lebak Gedong Sub-district, whose village was devastated by flash floods and landslides.
"We call on residents being accommodated in emergency camps to be patient and accept the disaster. Next, we (should concentrate on) recovery after the natural disaster," the vice president stated.
Uhartini, one of the flood victims, expressed hope that the government would relocate them to a new location since most of the houses in Cigobang kampong were destroyed by the natural disaster.
