We always try to collaborate to carry out any program. Goodness will be easier and have a greater impact if it is done together,
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Islamic philanthropic institute Dompet Dhuafa in association with Indonesian Muslim Youth in America (IMYA) distributed food among tens of homeless people in the United States to show care for less-fortunate people.

"We always try to collaborate to carry out any program. Goodness will be easier and have a greater impact if it is done together," Executive Director of Dompet Dhuafa USA Inc. Irwan Saputra said in a press statement released on Sunday.

Quoting data from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, Saputra said a total of 552,830 Americans were homeless as of January 2018 and most of them lived in major cities such as New York, Washington D.C. and California.

Dompet Dhuafa distributed food among the homeless people in cooperation with IMYA and Subway fast food restaurant outlet.

Through professional guidance, ten IMYA volunteers made Subway sandwich. They prepared 50 packages of food to be distributed among homeless people gathering at a halfway house.

"It's winter in the US where the temperature is below 0 degrees Celsius. Of course, the homeless people there need more attention so they will remain satisfied and healthy during the winter," he said.
