Jakarta (ANTARA) - Inflation rate until the fourth week of March 2020 was recorded at 0.13 percent or lower than that recorded in February, according to Bank Indonesia (BI).

According to a statement from BI received in Jakarta on Friday, the figure was based on the price monitoring survey conducted every week.

Through temporary monitoring, inflation for the January-March 2020 calendar year was recorded at 0.80 percent, and on an annual basis (yoy) at three percent.

The contributors to inflation during the reporting period were gold jewelry, at 0.06 percent; oranges, 0.04 percent; chicken, eggs, and sugar respectively, 0.03 percent; shallots, 0.02 percent; and kale, spinach, rice, with side dishes, and household fuel each, 0.01 percent.

In the meantime, the main contributors to deflation were 0.09 percent from red chili, 0.03 percent from cayenne pepper and garlic, tomatoes, broiler chicken meat, cooking oil and air transportation, respectively 0.01 percent.

Several commodities that recorded a price hike from the earlier week comprised gold jewelry, granulated sugar, oranges, and shallots. On the other hand, red chili was one commodity that experienced a price decline.

Earlier, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) had recorded an inflation rate of 0.28 percent in February 2020 owing to an increase in the price of garlic and red chili.

During this period, garlic contributed 0.09 percent to inflation and red chili, 0.06 percent.

Other commodities contributing to inflation are purebred chicken, oranges, filter clove cigarettes, rice, cooking oil, white cigarettes, cayenne peppers, onions, and potatoes. Related news: Pre-employment cards disbursed to cushion economy from COVID-19 impact
