The toddler’s grandfather and grandmother have also tested positive for the deadly virus, Riau Provincial Government's COVID-19 spokesperson, Indra Yovi, told journalists on Saturday in the provincial capital, Pekanbaru.
The three, who have been tagged Patient 27, 28, and 29, are residents of Dumai City, he informed.
The two-year-old’s grandfather, Patient 27, has been identified by the initial S. His wife, Patient 28, has been identified by the initial K. Patient 29, their two-year-old grandchild, has been identified by the initials DYA.
The two-year-old patient has been admitted to a local hospital’s isolation ward, Yovi said adding that before contracting the virus, S had traveled to Bekasi in West Java Province.
Meanwhile, as of Saturday, Indonesia has recorded 6,248 confirmed cases, with 535 deaths and 631 recoveries.
Spokesperson for the Indonesian Government's Task Force for the Accelerated Handling of COVID-19, Achmad Yurianto, had warned earlier that coronavirus transmissions have continued in the country.
"So, please let us all participate in efforts to curtail the virus' spread by heeding to the government's calls for staying at home, practicing social distancing, and wearing face masks," he urged.

According to Yurianto, the task force has, so far, examined 45,378 clinical specimens for coronavirus at 35 laboratories, while the total number of cases examined has reached 39,422.
In the 34 provinces, there are 176,344 people under monitoring and 12,979 patients under surveillance, he said adding that all patients under surveillance status must be thoroughly monitored.
Jakarta remains Indonesia's COVID-19 epicenter with the highest number of confirmed cases. As of Saturday, the capital city has reported 2,924 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 205 patients recovering from the infection and 253 succumbing to it.
As COVID-19 infections have spread to all 34 provinces in the country, President Joko Widodo has declared the coronavirus outbreak a national disaster.
