Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital (RSD) in Kemayoran on Wednesday treated 723 inpatients confirmed to have contracted COVID-19, down 50, from 773 on the previous day.

"The number of COVID-19 patients decreased by 50, from 773 to 723," Vice Admiral Yudo Margono, head of the emergency hospital, concurrently commander of the Joint Regional Defense Command (Pangkogabwilhan) I, noted in a statement here on Wednesday.

The number of inpatients under surveillance (PDP) at the hospital also decreased by 27, from 106 people to reach 79. Similarly, the number of inpatients, with the patients under monitoring (ODP) status, also dropped by 35, from 198 people earlier to reach 163.

Hence, the total number of inpatients at the Wisma Atlet Hospital decreased by 112, from 1,077 on Tuesday, to 965 people on Wednesday at 8 a.m. local time.

"The 965 inpatients comprised 628 men and 337 women," he revealed.

The Kemayoran Athlete's Village has been converted to officially serve as a COVID-19 Emergency Hospital since March 23, 2020. This hospital has a bed capacity of 12 thousand.

A total of 2,038 patients were treated at the Wisma Atlet Hospital since March 23 until now, while 88 patients were referred to other hospitals.

Some 800 patients received discharge from the hospital and conducted self-isolation, while 25 patients had returned home on their own request. Three patients died of the virus, while 157 people were outpatients.

Margono also reported that the number of inpatients testing positive for COVID-19 at the Galang Island Emergency Hospital, Batam, Riau Islands, had reached 15.

The hospital discharged two people on Tuesday after results of their second swab tests came negative.

The 15 inpatients comprised five crew members of MV Kelud, six male citizens of the Indian Jama'at Tablig, and four male administrators of the Baiturrahman Sekupang Mosque in Batam.

Meanwhile, the government's spokesperson for COVID-19 response, Achmad Yurianto, noted that the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection in Indonesia, as of Tuesday noon (May 5), had increased by 484, thereby bringing the total to 12,071 cases, while 2,197 people had recovered, and 872 people had died.
