Medan (ANTARA) - The death toll from a fire that erupted aboard the MT Jag Leela tanker at Belawan Port in North Sumatra Province increased to seven on Tuesday afternoon.

"All bodies have been taken to the Bhayangkara Police Hospital in Medan," deputy chief of the hospital Adjunct Senior Commissioner Zulkhairi stated.

Zulkhairi confirmed that the police were still identifying all the bodies.

"None of them have been identified. The identification process is still underway," he confirmed

The hospital has set up a post-mortem command post to collect data from relatives of the victims.

The fire aboard the tanker also caused injuries to 22 people. They all have been taken to the PHC Hospital and Air Force Hospital in Belawan for medical treatment.

The 250-meter-long tanker caught fire on Monday morning while anchored at the shipyard of PT Waruna Nusa Sentana Shipyard at Belawan Port.
