"We targeted the general public, those who were passing by, MRT and Transjakarta passengers, street vendors, everyone," said Angeline, the doctor in charge for the event in Jakarta.
The volunteer group, initiated by Sandiaga Uno, provided 500 rapid test kits and mobile swab tests for free inspections in the heart of the capital city.
"We have not set a time limit, we will (continue the tests) until we run out of the rapid test kits that we have prepared today. The public, cleaning service workers, even military and police personnel can participate by bringing their identification cards," Angeline said on Tuesday.
She further explained that generating results for the tests would take 10 minutes.
"If the results are reactive, we will carry out a swab test immediately using our portable lab," she said.
Tuesday's event began at 10 a.m. local time and continued until all test kits had been used.
Similar tests have been earlier carried out by the volunteer group in a number of other areas, including the Kemayoran Athlete's Village and the Johar Baru area. (INE)
