The health issues' preconditions laid down by the Minister of Health and the National Task Force for COVID-19 Handling are absolute.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, new normal protocols can be applied in at least seven Indonesian provinces, as per indicators, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartanto stated here on Wednesday.

The indicators are based on epidemiological parameters that show the growth of coronavirus transmission, or the Basic Reproduction Number (R0), which has registered a low value in several areas.

"According to data from Bappenas (National Development Planning Agency), several areas, namely, Aceh, Riau, North Kalimantan, Maluku, Jambi, and Jakarta will be ready on June 4, 2020, while West Java as well as some other provinces are enacting social restrictions until May 29, 2020,” Hartanto said after a limited meeting with President Joko Widodo.

Given the situation, it would be feasible to start production activities with the implementation of health protocols through coordination between local authorities, the COVID-19 Task Force, as well as the Ministry of Health, he added.

"The health issues' preconditions laid down by the Minister of Health and the National Task Force for COVID-19 Handling are absolute," Hartanto noted.

Police and military personnel will be deployed to safeguard crowded public spots and ensure people comply with safety and health measures.

"This measure is being taken to prevent a second wave from occurring, because we will again limit people's activities if that happens," Hartanto added.

The central government has issued a guideline on the implementation of the new normal for businesses and industrial workplaces through Health Minister Decree Number HK.01.07/MENKES/328/2020. (INE)
