"The personnel (of TNI and Polri) in the field interact humanistically to call on people to abide by the health protocols so that they can carry out their activities but remain safe from the COVID-19," Tjahjanto said at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, on Sunday.
"In this current transition period, the TNI and Polri personnel have been assisting regional governments to prevent new COVID-19 cases. We have deployed officers to both red and green zones to enforce the health protocols and to discipline the public," Tjahjanto said.
The military and police officers are being deployed in 25 districts and cities in four provinces categorized as the red zone and in 102 districts and cities as green zone, to remind the people of keeping physical distance from others and maintaining the hygiene.
Idham Azis said that the main key for people to be productive but still safe from the COVID-19 transmission is to follow stringent health protocols and the government's guidelines .
"I, together with the (TNI Commander), call on the community, to discipline ourselves so that we can avoid the COVID-19 infection, because COVID-19 does not choose who will be its target. This is important, learning to be disciplined," he said.
In addition to, the military and the police will also deploy personnel in 138 districts and cities categorized as the yellow zone of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The two five-star generals on Sunday morning accompanied President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) while exercising in the Bogor Palace compound and the Bogor Botanical Garden which is located next to the palace.
