The company, which is originally from Taiwan, is moving its business from Suzhou, China, to Indonesia, and is expected to create eight thousand jobs by setting up a new factory in Subang, West Java.
“Meiloon is an investor that has expressed its commitment to prioritize workers from West Java, especially the Subang district,” Lahadalia said during a groundbreaking event for the company's factory in Subang on Tuesday. The event was broadcast live through the BKPM channel.
The BKPM is also encouraging the company, which manufactures speakers, to supply industry needs with local products from West Java, especially the district of Subang, he added.
"This is (part of) a momentum (that is building up), it is not just about Jakarta and the excellence of its citizens anymore. Under our leadership, from the instructions of the President, every investment that comes into a region will need to involve local businesses, national entrepreneurs that are in the area, (and) not exclusively (those) from Jakarta," Lahadalia pointed out.

Meanwhile, the district head of Subang, Ruhimat, expressed the hope that investment from Taiwan in the region would have a double impact on the surrounding community.
“Subang district must be a part of the Indonesian economic cycle rather than a spectator, which will begin with the construction of this factory. Of the 8,000 workers absorbed, I hope 80 percent come from the Subang district who have been trained,” he said.
West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil also asked the Subang district government to build the capacity of the workforce and local entrepreneurs.
