Today, we have received the follow-up results of the swab tests from the BTKLPP laboratory and six people have been confirmed with positive coronavirus infectionsBatam (ANTARA) - Six more Indonesian migrant workers have tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease upon their arrival in Batam city, according to the city’s Task Force for the Acceleration of COVID-19 Handling.
“Today, we have received the follow-up results of the swab tests from the BTKLPP laboratory and six people have been confirmed with positive coronavirus infections," said Batam City's COVID-19 task force head, Muhammad Rudi, in a statement received here on Saturday.
About 54 Indonesian migrant workers from Malaysia and Singapore had arrived at the Batam Centre International Port and underwent a swab test on Tuesday (July 28, 2020).
Of the total workers, the results of 23 had come back positive for COVID-19, and they are undergoing treatment at the COVID-19 hospital in Galang Islands.
With the six additional cases, the total number of migrant workers with coronavirus infections in Batam has reached 29.
Meanwhile, as of Saturday, Batam has registered 332 COVID-19 cases, with 252 recoveries, and 15 deaths. Meanwhile, several hospitals are treating patients who have tested positive for the virus. The data excludes migrant workers diagnosed with coronavirus infections in their respective areas. (INE)
