Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government has budgeted Rp14.4 trillion for tourism development in 2021 to boost economic recovery in Indonesia's tourism sector.

During a speech to deliver the 2021 Draft State Budget and Financial Note at the DPR-RI Plenary Meeting for the 2020-2021 Session Year at the MPR/DPR Building, Jakarta, Friday, President Joko Widodo affirmed that tourism development policies comprise the improvement of priority destinations to intensify promotion and private sector involvement.

"The policy is applied through the restoration of tourism, with the development of destinations in the five areas of Lake Toba, Borobudur, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, and Liikupang," he stated.

Furthermore, focus is on the development of 3As -- attractions, accessibility, and amenities -- as well as enhancing the 2Ps -- promotion and participation -- of private business actors.

President Widodo noted that tourism development will also be conducted with the application of a storynomics tourism approach that lays emphasis on narrative, creative content, living culture, and cultural strength.

"Tourism development also entails the utilization of the Government and Business Entity Cooperation (PPP) scheme in building entertainment centers, such as theme parks, which will attract numerous tourists," he added. Related news: Indonesia sets aside Rp3.8 trillion to revive tourism sector
