Parit Malintang, West Sumatra (ANTARA) - Ali Mukhni, District Head of Padang Pariaman, West Sumatra Province, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) based on the results of a swab test that he took last Friday.

"Based on the results of swab test conveyed by the West Sumatra COVID-19 Task Force, I have tested positive for COVID-19," Ali Mukhni said on a video conference from Parit Malintang, on Sunday.

He was categorized as an asymptomatic patient and has been isolated himself in his home since Friday.

He urged the public to implement the health protocols by wearing face masks, maintaining physical distancing, and frequently washing hands with soap and in running water.

Meanwhile, Nur Ahmad Syaifuddin, acting District Head of Sidoarjo, East Java, passed away on Saturday after he was infected with COVID-19. His wife also contracted the coronavirus disease and isolated herself at home as she was asymptomatic.
