Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) on National Maritime Day reiterated its commitment to MSME empowerment through, among others measures, the launch of a program called ‘Proud of made in Indonesia products’.

National Maritime Day is observed on September 23 every year.

In a press release issued in Jakarta on Wednesday, marketing director of the ministry's Directorate General of Competitiveness of Marine and Fishery Products (PDSPKP), Machmud, said: “We hope that MSMEs engaged in marine and fishery products will be superior and advanced.”

The ‘Proud of made in Indonesia products’ campaign has been launched under the hashtag #PasarLautIndonesia. It is aimed at encouraging MSMEs to innovate, particularly in developing marketing techniques for their products through digital marketing.

So far, the KKP has selected more than 1,300 MSMEs that have superior products to become part of the program and be promoted on the website www.pasarlautindonesia.id.

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic should not become an obstacle for MSMEs to be creative, but instead, motivate them to be innovative, pursue transformation, explore their potential, and create new business opportunities, said Machmud.

The ‘Proud of made in Indonesia products’ is a government program aimed at helping Indonesian MSMEs improve their business competence and capacity, as well as promote the sale of their products through e-commerce, he added.

The program was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on May 14, 2020 and has received support from all ministries, institutions, and the private sector to boost the economy, especially MSME businesses, so that they can survive the pandemic.
