The government is waiting for the result of the clinical test.Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government is awaiting the results of the third phase of the clinical trials of COVID-19 vaccine candidates that are under development, spokesperson for the Task Force for COVID-19 Response, Wiku Adisasmito, said.
"Right now, the candidate vaccines are in the third phase of clinical trials to ensure their safety from side-effects and the vulnerability of safe doses to be used for humans. The government is waiting for the result of the clinical test,” he said at an online press conference here on Thursday.
Once the clinical trials are completed, their results will be sent to the Drug and Food Supervisory Agency (BPOM) for scrutiny. The government has stressed the vaccine be developed cautiously and not hurriedly, Adisasmito said.
"(The development of vaccines) must continue to stick to the health standards,” he added.
If the clinical trials conform to the health standards, the BPOM will issue a permit for use of the vaccines, he informed.
He said all provinces in the country have been making preparations for nationwide immunization, in accordance with the road map set by the Health Ministry
The preparations are being made keeping several aspects in mind, including logistics and availability of human resources, he added.
