During the visit to Cikarang Utara, Amin was accompanied by Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, Bekasi District Head Eka Supria Atmaja, and Bekasi District Health Office Head Sri Enny.
"This simulation is part of the overall preparations for holding the vaccination planned by the government," Amin remarked.
The vice president elaborated that pre-vaccination preparations comprised collection of data on the vaccine recipients, stages of injection, distribution mechanism, and waste treatment model for the vaccine.
"Several other preparations, include preparing data and names of people to be vaccinated throughout Indonesia followed by the stages and distribution of vaccines as well as the apt approach to handle the large amount of vaccine waste," he explained.
The COVID-19 vaccination simulation is part of the government's endeavors to acclimatize the public to the COVID-19 vaccination plan and to offer a broad understanding of the importance of vaccine administration to break the chain of COVID-19 to end the pandemic. On Nov 18, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had also witnessed a simulation of the COVID-19 vaccine immunization held at the "Harapan Keluarga" Puskesmas in Tanah Sereal, Bogor, West Java Province.
"This morning, I visited the Puskesmas in Tanah Sereal in Bogor City because yesterday, I heard of the simulation for vaccination being conducted," Jokowi noted in Bogor on Wednesday.
The president arrived at the Puskesmas at 8:21 a.m. local time in the company of Minister of Health Terawan Agus Putranto and Mayor of Bogor Bima Arya.
Participants in the vaccine simulation hailed from various backgrounds, including traders, housewives, civil servants, and online motorcycle taxi drivers.
The Jokowi administration plans to conduct COVID-19 vaccination in the third week of December this year.
