For our nation, normalizing relations with Israel is unacceptable. Therefore, we must stop the policy of granting visas to Israelis.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chief of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Board of the House of Representatives (BKSAP DPR), Fadli Zon, has urged the Indonesian government to nix the policy of issuing visas to Israelis.

"For our nation, normalizing relations with Israel is unacceptable. Therefore, we must stop the policy of granting visas to Israelis," he said here on Monday.

Soekarno, the first Indonesian president, had once said that as long as Palestine’s independence was not restored, Indonesia would remain opposed to Israel's colonization, he stated.

"That is what was said by Soekarno, our founding father," he added.

The statement was explicitly included in the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution, he observed.

"The (1945) Constitution stipulates that independence is the right of all nations. Therefore, any form of colonization in the world must be eliminated because it is against humanity and justice," Zon stated, quoting the first paragraph of the 1945 Constitution. (INE)
