"The KPK apprehended several people suspected of being officials from the Ministry of Social Affairs in connection with an alleged corruption case in the distribution of COVID-19 social aid. We are still conducting investigations," Ghufron notified reporters on Saturday.

Ghufron withheld the identity of those caught red-handed and the evidence seized during the arrest, asserting that the details will be made public at a press conference scheduled on Saturday night.

The anti-graft body's chief, Firli Bahuri, had earlier confirmed the arrest made on Wednesday.

"That is right, on Friday, December 4, 2020, at 11 p.m. local time, until Friday on December 5 at 2 a.m. local time, in the early hours of the morning, the KPK has made an arrest," Bahuri informed reporters in Jakarta on Saturday.
