The demand for frozen coconut milk from China and Thailand is quite high, so North Sulawesi exporters are making good use of it
Manado, N Sulawesi (ANTARA) - North Sulawesi province began exporting frozen coconut milk to China and Thailand in early 2021, officials said.

“The demand for frozen coconut milk from China and Thailand is quite high, so North Sulawesi exporters are making good use of it,” said Darwin Muksin, head of the Foreign Trade Division of North Sulawesi Industry and Trade Office, here on Thursday.

Around 50 tonnes of frozen coconut milk was exported to China, which generated foreign exchange of US$33,800 for the country, Muksin informed.

Meanwhile, about 24 tonnes of frozen coconut milk, worth US$31,640, was exported to Thailand, he added.

He explained that frozen coconut milk has been Indonesia's newest export product in recent years, with China serving as the first main market, followed by other countries, such as Thailand.

"I hope that exporters are able to maintain product quality over time since it will determine the continuity of demand from those countries," Muksin said.

He further said that the local government will continue to facilitate exporters in processing export certificates of origin (SKA).

"We will continue to strive so that the frozen coconut milk from North Sulawesi is not only exported to China and Thailand, but also to other neighboring countries," he added.
