It is true that the perpetrators were a husband and wife that were married six months ago.Jakarta (ANTARA) - The police established that the two suicide bombers, who attacked the Cathedral Church in Makassar, South Sulawesi, were a couple, married six months back, Indonesian Police’s spokesman, Insp. Gen Pol. Argo Yuwono, stated.
"It is true that the perpetrators were a husband and wife that were married six months ago," Yuwono noted here on Monday.
The male suspect was identified by his initial as L, while the female suspect was YSF, both employed in the private sector, according to the spokesman.
"Investigation into the case is being conducted to find other suspects," Yuwono remarked.
The spokesman revealed that the police had searched some locations, including the suspects' house, to unearth pieces of evidence.
"We are waiting for the report of our personnel on the field. We are upbeat about being able to uncover this," Yuwono stated.
According to the spokesman, the suspects were affiliated to Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD), a militant group behind the bombing in Jolo, the Philippines.
A bomb exploded at 10:30 a.m. local time at the entrance gate of the Makassar Cathedral Church, allegedly killing two suicide bombers and injuring 19 people.
The explosion occurred when churchgoers had completed the Sunday Palm services.
"Of the 19 injured victims, 15 are still receiving medical treatment at hospitals, while four of them were released," Yuwono stated.
