“MSMEs are spread all over the country. The types of their businesses and products also vary. They involve many local residents, create new jobs, and employ many workers,” Widodo noted in his address at the virtual opening of the peak of the Proud of Indonesian Products National Movement/ Festival Joglosemar Attisan of Java in the yard of Borobudur Temple in Magelang District, Central Java, on Thursday.
“We want to utilize this momentum of national revival by expediting the revival of Indonesian products, the revival of our MSMEs to produce goods of high quality, master the domestic market, and become more competitive in the global market, so that their rankings will improve,” he remarked.
The Proud of Indonesian Product National Movement (Gernas BBI) was launched a year ago, he stated.
The head of state is upbeat that a year since its launch, the movement would show concrete yield and progress and the number of MSMEs onboarding to commerce platforms would increase significantly.
The rise in e-commerce will indubitably have an impact on offline economic activities to enable moving out of the bottom of the economy and facilitate equitable and just development, he emphasized.
The government continues to improve the business ecosystem of MSMEs. The job creation law has provided MSMEs with business facilities and done away with lengthy and overlapping regulations, so that MSMEs can open businesses easily, he remarked.
“I urge the cabinet and regional heads to ensure its execution. That is the point. Monitoring the implementation is also important, so that MSMEs could really feel its benefits,” he stated.
The structural reforms are not merely related to licensing. Financing access has been and will be eased, market access will be opened as widely as possible, and coaching for MSMEs in the fields of branding, packaging, and marketing will be continued and their protection will also be strengthened, he remarked.
“To support the progress of MSMEs, I am optimistic that all sides would get involved and take action to offer the best places to MSMEs to introduce and market their products,” he remarked.
