Jakarta (ANTARA) - A Robinson R44 helicopter crashed into Lake Buperta Rawa Jemblung, Cibubur, East Jakarta, on Friday.

"A Robinson R44 training helicopter crashed and plunged into a swamp area this morning at around 9:00 WIB (Western Indonesian Standard Time) in the Rawa Jemblug area in Cibubur," spokesman of Jakarta Police Commissioner Yusri Yunus stated at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters here on Friday.

The helicopter's passengers, identified as Captain L and O, survived the accident and were immediately rushed to a hospital.

"Two passengers, respectively a coach and his trainee, survived," he noted.

The helicopter had circled over the lake thrice before finally crashing into the lake.

"After three turns over the swamp, a glitch developed, and it crashed," he remarked.

However, Yunus did not have further details about the accident.

Currently, the Jakarta Police, with the assistance of the military, TNI, is still at the crash site to assist in retrieving the crashed helicopter.
