Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia recorded 5,662 fresh coronavirus infections on Monday, taking the total tally since the start of the pandemic in March 2020 to 1,821,703, according to data provided by the COVID-19 Handling Task Force.

The number of people recovering from the virus increased by 5,121, bringing the total recoveries to 1,669,119.

With 174 people succumbing to the virus, the death toll reached 50,578.

Meanwhile, the number of active cases, or patients receiving treatment and conducting self-isolation, increased by 367 to reach 102,006, while the tally of suspected COVID-19 cases touched 56,125.

The highest number of daily cases were recorded in West Java (1,316), followed by Central Java (881), Jakarta (726), Riau (473), and Banten (279).

Cumulatively, Jakarta recorded the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases at 430,059, followed by West Java (313,949), Central Java (200,086), East Java (154,781), East Kalimantan (71,599), and South Sulawesi (62,176).

Jakarta also registered the highest number of recoveries at 411,999, followed by West Java (279,873), Central Java (180,568), East Java (141,698), East Kalimantan (68,837), and South Sulawesi (60,836).
