Amin conveyed his appeal in his opening remarks of a mass vaccination event held in South Tangerang City, Banten Province, in cooperation with the South Tangerang City Government, the Dewa Dewi Indonesia Foundation, and Traveloka on Wednesday.
"This can become an example (for other regions) and encourage other institutions to take part or play a role in handling the COVID-19 pandemic," the vice president noted in his virtual speech delivered from his official residence.
Amin is sanguine that other regions would involve NGOs and institutions in organizing vaccination activities.
The acceleration of vaccination in various regions is deemed necessary to inoculate some 181.5 million Indonesians with the objective of developing herd immunity, he noted.
He drew attention to the government's target of administering vaccine jabs to one to two million Indonesians daily.
Amin reminded vaccine recipients to diligently follow health protocols and urged their family members to get vaccine shots against COVID-19.
COVID-19 vaccination can reduce severity and lower fatality among those contracting the disease. Health protocols, testing, tracing, and treatment must continue to be conducted, he reiterated.
"Of course, vaccination must be supported by the ability of the government and local governments to intensify 3Ts (testing, tracing, treatment) and the community should become disciplined in applying the 5M health protocols," the vice president noted.
