No excuse will be entertained from those found violating the regulation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan has pressed for reinforcing the implementation of emergency community activities restrictions (PPKM) for the industrial sector.

Pandjaitan made the statement based on the monitoring result that showed an increase in nigh light index at several industrial areas, indicating increased public mobility in the areas.

It was caused by the continued night shifts running at manufacturing units in the essential sector, thereby bringing the total number of attending workers to 100 percent for a 24-hour period.

"We (Indonesians) need to be careful. A COVID-19 cluster was found in the Karawang industrial area. No excuse will be entertained from those found violating the regulation," the minister noted in his written statement in Jakarta, Saturday.

Hence, Pandjaitan has encouraged the Industry Ministry to evaluate the issuance of industrial operation and mobility permit (IOMKI).

Along with the police, the ministry was also urged to supervise the implementation of the IOMKI thoroughly.

The instruction was issued, as several corporations had tweaked their IOMKI to be included in the critical sector in order to obtain permission to do 100-percent work from office (WFO), although they actually came under the essential sector.

The permission has been regulated in the Instruction of the Home Affairs Minister Number 15 of 2021 on the implementation of the Corona Virus Disease 2019 Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in the islands of Java and Bali.

The regulation stated that businesses in the essential sector can only allow 25-50 percent of their staff in the office, while those offering critical services could have 100 percent of their staff working from the office.
