Jakarta (ANTARA) - Communication and Informatics Minister Johnny G. Plate strongly believes that digital talents can bolster the nation's competitiveness and productivity based on which the ministry held a Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS) program this year.

"DTS 2021 aims to improve skills in the field of information and communication technology for the general public, especially the young workforce, and for state civil servants in the field of information and communication technology. The DTS program is expected to increase the productivity and competitiveness of the nation in the Industry 4.0 era," Plate noted in a press release, quoted here, Thursday.

Digital training is viewed as an opportunity to hone skills and competitiveness and maintain the citizens' productivity.

"We strive to continue to facilitate the expertise of Indonesian children through this Digital Talent Scholarship program, so that in future, this training will not only help people to have the required skill sets in the digital era but at the same time also maintain citizens' productivity online," the minister explained.

Eight forms of training provided this year at the DTS: Fresh Graduate Academy (FGA), Vocational School Graduate Academy (VSGA), Professional Academy (ProA), Digital Entrepreneurship Academy (DEA), Thematic Academy (TA), Government Transformation Academy (GTA), Talent Scouting Academy (TSA) and the Digital Leadership Academy (DLA).

Currently, three types of training are being conducted online: FGA for college graduates or final year students, VSGA for Vocational High School (SMK) graduates, and TA for industry players.

The FGA training is held in collaboration with 53 universities, Global Technology Company, and Education Technology Partners, with training themes presented, such as Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, DataCom, Storage, Core System Administration, Microsoft Fundamentals, Big Data using Python, CCNA Network Engineer, Cyber Security Operations, IT Fundamentals, Database Design & Programming with SQL, JAVA (Java Foundation), and Java Programming.

Meanwhile, the VSGA training is held in collaboration with 42 universities with the topics presented during the training: Junior Network Administrator, Junior Mobile Programmer, Junior Web Developer, Junior Graphic Designer, Intermediate Animator (Motion Graphic Artist), Intermediate Multimedia Designer, and Radio Frequency Engineer.

The themes during the TA training comprise Scrum Master (Basic Level), Front End Banking IT Class, Back End Banking IT Class, Big Data for Social Science, Video Content Creator, Cyber Security Analyst for the Public Sector, Indonesia Women in Tech: Programming with Python, Associate Data Scientist: Artificial Intelligence for Lecturers and Instructors.

The Ministry of Communication and Informatics targets to train 100 thousand digital talents through the 2021 DTS program.
