The feature can now be used in Bali, and communication is currently underway with related parties for other regions to avail it
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo)'s spokesperson Dedy Permadi confirmed his side will work towards further developing and expanding the PeduliLindungi application to handle the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The Kominfo Ministry will continue to develop the PeduliLindungi application for the purpose of health surveillance by the government," Permadi told ANTARA on Wednesday.

Furthermore, he revealed that one of the features developed is the Scan QR Code in public facilities.

This feature can be used to streamline the search for PeduliLindungi application users exposed to COVID-19.

"The feature can now be used in Bali, and communication is currently underway with related parties for other regions to avail it," he explained.

Permadi elaborated that the Scan QR Code feature is available to use for check-in purposes at public facilities, such as shopping centers, offices, airports, and praying facilities.

Airports, under the management of PT Angkasa Pura II, have also made it mandatory to use the PeduliLindungi application for airport departure, with effect from August 1, 2021.

Permadi also noted that in addition to the vaccine status, other features are under development for use by the public through the PeduliLindungi application.

"(These features) include the E-Hac feature, Risk Zone Information, Scan QR Code, and Digital Passport that support the government's efforts to survey the public's health and facilitate adaptation to the new normal," he remarked.

He stated that the currently available features will continue to be evaluated and aligned with the requirements of the people and stakeholders.

"The government always conducts evaluation on effectiveness of the PeduliLindungi application. The features can be expanded on the basis of the COVID-19 handling scenario after it is communicated with the related stakeholders," he expounded.
